The end

On March 4, 1986, Bronfman handed the club over to Norm Kimball, who changed the name back to the Alouettes in hopes of appealing to Montrealers. The 1986 season was a disaster. Attendance plummeted to 5,000 people a game. Kimball announced in June 1987 on the eve of the first game of the year that the Alouettes would be folding, 41 years after the team was founded in 1946.
